European Union End-of-Year Gathering

European Union held an end-of-year gathering for the media at the EU Residence, Jakarta. The European Union Ambassador to Indonesia, H.E. Vincent Guerend provided an update on the state of play of EU-Indonesia relationship. Issues that had been prominent in the media include palm oil, the EU-Asia Connectivity strategy, enhanced EU Security Cooperation in and with Asia, the Asia-Europe meeting summit, the aid fund for ongoing projects and natural disasters in Indonesia, and the outlook for the year to come, hoping for deep and trustful relationship in politics, human rights, maritime cooperations and others.
 
 
Good news comes for the travel industry as EU will lift the ban for Indonesian airlines to fly to EU countries next year. The sixt round of discussion took place in October 2018 regarding the ongoing negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic and Partnership Agreement (CEPA). Estimated to adding almost 0.5% to the amount of Indonesia's GDP growth and USD 1.1 billion increase on Indonesian exports, along with providing protection from the fallout of ongoing trade wars, the conclusion of CEPA is a priority of the Indonesian government under the current Presidential adminisatration.
