Inspired by the Javanese word ‘Tentrem’ which means ‘peacefulness and tranquillity’, the hotel offers guests a genuine Javanese cultural service, where every individual is unique and the staff value every expression and aspiration to better serve their guests. This philosophy’s whole experience is based on a local touch, complete with tranquillity and peace, which makes the hotels a destination at same time.

On this occasion, Mey Nurnaningsih, the Corporate General Manager of Tentrem Hotel Management Indonesia shares her expertise in managing the company:

⇒ Please tell us briefly about yourself and professional background:

I am a mother of three children. I graduated from BPLP Bandung, currently known as STP Bandung. I have been working in the hospitality industry since 1990 starting my early career in the Housekeeping Department then had the opportunities to explore others. I have been in most of Departments within the hospitality industry and I have worked with local and international chains, namely Hilton, Marriott International, and Shangri-La.

What makes Tentrem Hotel Management Indonesia distinct from others?

As proud Indonesians and grateful for the richness and diversities in Indonesian culture, most aspects in our hotel network are from local resources including the people. From the early establishment of Hotel Tentrem Yogyakarta, which involved expertise in design, project management operations and staffing, these were done by an Indonesian team. Our core belief is to bring out the uniqueness and identity value from each hotel. Then, to blend those values with the International hospitality standards in creating a unique experience for all of our guests.

⇒ What are the opportunities/challenges in managing various types of hotels?

Currently, we are managing 2 hotels that are open for operation, our flagship, the 5-star Hotel Tentrem Yogyakarta and her 4-star sister hotel the Chanti Semarang. In the pipeline, we will open another 5 -star hotel, the Hotel Tentrem Semarang. This will open up great opportunities for cross selling within the Tentrem hotel network, corporate clients and also our hotel partners. This will also bring challenges to consistently deliver optimum standard of services and to improve any available resources.

⇒ Please share your current and future plans for Tentrem Hotel Management Indonesia:

As we grow our current portfolio, we open up opportunities to manage and build the Tentrem Hotels network within Indonesia, outside Central Java, potentially in other big cities in Indonesia.
