Gather your girl friends and show people what girl power is. That’s exactly what the recently released movie, “Birds of Prey” is all about. Played by the Oscar nominee, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and directed by Cathy Yan, the story tells the life after break-up with The Joker. Harley Quinn has to stand on her own feet and has to struggle for her life after being targeted by Joker’s enemies. The conflict doesn’t stop there, as it gets complicated with the involvement of Dinah Lance/Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Helena Bertinelli/Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Detective Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez), and young pick-pocket Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco).
The movie offers fun and exciting plot with great characters. Throughout the whole movie, we see the five tough female protagonists with different backgrounds deliver exciting action scenes. These women are established as serious fighters beating up dozens of armed opponents with their own fists and superpowers. Sharing the same goal, the girls ended up finding out something more precious than mere personal achievements. The title refers to Harley’s emancipation on her own and about all five women get to feel what it’s like to blaze trails on their own terms.
