Contemporary international art fair, Art Moments Jakarta 2019 brought together international and local collectors, top collectors, artists and art enthusiasts on 3-5 May 2019 at Sheraton Grand Gandaria City Hotel. Leo Silitonga, founder and art curator of Art Moments Jakarta said that the event was created as a platform to encourage the growth of art appreciation and collection in Indonesia. The goal was to deliver a world-class art exhibition experience featuring artworks, video art, sculptures and special installations from more than 35 galleries around the world.
This art fair attracted over 10,000 visitors and well-known art collectors. Participating exhibitors include Phillips Auction, Lawangwangi Creative Space, D Gallerie, CG Art Space, Kohesi Initiative, Perrotin, Art Agenda S.E.A, Indonesian Luxury and Gajah Gallery.
Aside from the exhibition itself, there were also a series of art-related events. Renowned neo-pop artist from Japan, Mr. and Yogyakarta's very own contemporary artist Heri Dono were present to meet and talk with the visitors. A book titled "Romualdo Locatelly, Eternal Green under an Eternal Sun" by Gianni Orsini was launched. It tells the story and works of a renowned Italian painter who mysteriously disappeared in Southeast Asia during WWII. Several art talks focused on topics from street arts, Islamic arts, Re-calibrating art circuits to online art-market revolutions. Integrated with the hotel, the Gandaria City Mall hosted art workshops by Ganara Art Space inspired by artworks of Yayoi Kusama, KAWS, Mr. and many more.
