New York Fashion Week (NYFW) 2022 has been the witness of creative collaboration between Alleira Batik with Carys Mihardja. The joint collection for the NYFW on "Indonesia Now'' runway is titled "Paradise", which seeks to bring critical exposure to the underexplored beauty of Indonesia's Batik culture, while simultaneously shining the spotlight on marginalized communities. Hand-painted by children with special needs and crafted meticulously through the high-grade precision of Alleira's traditional batik process, the collection features ornamental Balinese-styled motifs inspired Balinese architecture, Indonesia's culture and spellbinding nature.
The intricate patterns set in monochromatic hues of black and white, alongside the gradient interplay of colors such as green, gold, terracotta, brown, and other earth-toned colors identify Alleira Batik’s designs as distinctively characteristic, elegant, and versatile to wear for varied settings – whether opting for casual, semi-cocktail or a sophisticated, formal look.
Carys, through her international award-winning organization and recognition, has raised large sums to supply medical and day-to-day provisions for families with Down Syndrome nationwide. This collaboration aims to further add value to the human heart. The purpose of fashion should exceed the superficial goal of appealing to the eye. Fashion is a dynamic storyteller, a canvas of self-expression, and a catalyst for empowerment.
